Apprenticeship

The Apprentices Act, 1961 is a structured training program in which individuals, known as apprentices, learn a trade, craft, or profession through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction or theoretical learning. The primary purpose of an apprenticeship is to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become proficient in a particular occupation.
National Apprentice Programme is launched and funded by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to enhance on-the-job training ecosystem in the country. To increase the role of private players in create skilled manpower in India, multiple provisions are made for hiring apprentices in the company.

Apprenticeship schemes in India: NAPS and NATS

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) involves basic training and on the job training.

Eligibility of apprentice training.
  • ITI pass outs.
  • Graduates / Diploma Holders.
  • All Passouts From The NSQF Aligned Courses Including PMKVY/DDUGKY Etc.
  • Dual-Learning Mode From ITI.
  • Pursuing Graduation / Diploma.
  • Fresh Apprentices.
NAPS Covers Five Types Of Apprentices
  • Trade apprentices (8th, 10th, 12th class and even graduates).
  • Graduate apprentices (Engineers and graduates).
  • Technician apprentices (Diploma holders).
  • Technical apprentices (10+2).
  • Optional trade apprentices (5th class and above).
